Official Measuring & Estimation Guide

Planning Your EZ Brick Project Is Easy

Follow four simple steps to measure your space, account for openings, and determine how many boxes of EZ Brick you'll need for your project.

Visual Step-By-Step Method

How to Calculate Your EZ Brick Coverage

Follow the four straightforward steps below to measure your space, deduct openings, add the recommended waste buffer, and determine how many 10 sq. ft. boxes to order.

STEP 1 Rectangular Walls

Calculate Rectangular Surface Areas

Measure the length (in feet) and height (in feet) of each rectangular interior wall section to be covered with EZ Brick. Multiply the length by the height to determine the square footage for each area.

12 ft 8 ft
Length × Height
12 ft × 8 ft = 96 sq. ft.
Total Wall Area = 96 sq. ft.
STEP 2 Triangular Sections

Calculate Triangular Surface Areas

To determine the square footage of a triangular wall section (such as an accent wall beneath a vaulted ceiling), multiply the base length (in feet) by the center height (in feet), then divide the result by two.

4 ft (center height) 12 ft (base)
(Base × Center Height) ÷ 2
12 ft × 4 ft ÷ 2 = 24 sq. ft.
Triangular Area = 24 sq. ft.
STEP 3 Deductions

Account for Windows and Doors

Measure each window, door, fireplace opening, or cabinet cutout and calculate its square footage. Add all opening measurements together to determine the total area that will not be covered.

← 3 ft → 7 ft ← 4 ft → 3 ft Door 3 ft × 7 ft = 21 sq. ft. Window 4 ft × 3 ft = 12 sq. ft.
21 sq. ft. + 12 sq. ft. = 33 sq. ft. of openings
Total Openings = 33 sq. ft.
STEP 4 Box Count

Determine Total EZ Brick Needed

Subtract openings (Step 3) from total wall area (Steps 1 and 2). We recommend adding a 10% waste buffer for cuts and trimming (5% for simple straight walls). Round up to the nearest 10 sq. ft., as each EZ Brick box covers 10 square feet.

Total Wall Area (Step 1 + Step 2) = 120 sq. ft.
Windows & Doors (Step 3) - 33 sq. ft.
Net Coverage Area = 87 sq. ft.
10% Waste Factor (Recommended) + 8.7 sq. ft.
Total EZ Brick Needed = 95.7 sq. ft.
Each EZ Brick box covers 10 square feet.
Always round up to the nearest 10 sq. ft. multiple.
FINAL ORDER QUANTITY
100 sq. ft. = 10 Boxes
